Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Montello's Winning Streak

Montello and Regis squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Montello had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Ramblers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ramblers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in September.

Charlee O'Malley paced Montello's offense, picking up nine kills. O'Malley got some help from Emily Barganz and her 13 assists. Barganz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Regis was led to victory by Izzy Reichert and Hallie Albright. Reichert had 16 digs, three aces, and one block, while Albright had eight digs and three aces. Reichert is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last 72 games she's played dating back to last season.

The defeat snapped Montello's winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 35-7 record. As for Regis, they have been performing well recently as they've won 20 of their last 24 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-9 record this season.

Montello does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Regis, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Heritage Christian on the 8th.
