Basketball Game Preview: St. Pius X Sartans vs. Navajo Prep Eagles

The St. Pius X Sartans will be taking part in a tournament against the Navajo Prep Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Pius X is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

St. Pius X will head into Wednesday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 24-point drubbing they dealt Sandia Prep two weeks ago. St. Pius X put the hurt on Sandia Prep with a sharp 65-41 victory. Given the Sartans' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Sundevils are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Navajo Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their 26-game winning streak dating back to last season on Thursday. They took a 43-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chinle. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Navajo Prep fell to 6-1. As for St. Pius X, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
