Baseball Recap: Avon Orioles vs. Homestead Spartans
Avon saw some tournament action on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Homestead Spartans 4-3.
Carter Beck looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Brayden Salyer was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Pennington, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Avon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homestead only posted a batting average of .192.
The win got Avon back to even at 1-1. As for Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon will be taking part in a tournament against Terre Haute South Vigo at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Homestead, they will challenge Adams Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
