Softball Game Preview: Midlothian Panthers vs. Midway Panthers

We've got a battle between Panthers coming up. Midlothian will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Midlothian will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Joshua, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Midlothian was the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over Joshua on Saturday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Paige Insley looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Madison Howard was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which washer first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Givens, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-5.

Midlothian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Joshua only posted a batting average of .276.

Meanwhile, Midway fell victim to Melissa and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Midlothian's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Midway, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1.

Midlothian might still be hurting after the 20-2 defeat they got from Midway when the teams last played back in March of 2021. Can Midlothian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
