Basketball Recap: Gaston Day Spartans vs. Covenant Day Lions
Gaston Day lost against Covenant Day back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Spartans fell 67-57 to the Lions. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dyson Britt, who shot 70% from the field en route to 21 points and six assists. Britt has also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Griffen Simpson was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds.
Covenant Day got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Douglas Smith out in front who shot 89% from the field on his way to 21 points and five boards. Thanks to that strong game, Smith now owns an excellent 48.7% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Thompson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Gaston Day's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Covenant Day, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.
Gaston Day has already played their next game, an 84-66 win against Carolina Day on the 5th. As for Covenant Day, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-46 defeat against Cary Academy on the 5th.
