Preview: Foxcroft Academy Ponies vs. Old Town Coyotes
Foxcroft Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Old Town Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Foxcroft Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but Foxcroft Academy had to settle for a 42-40 loss against Presque Isle. While losing is never fun, Foxcroft Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Presque Isle is ranked 24th).
Despite their defeat, Foxcroft Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Samantha Ossenfort, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Page, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Old Town put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Houlton 62-25 on the road. Fans of Old Town have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Foxcroft Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Old Town, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
Foxcroft Academy might still be hurting after the 47-26 loss they got from Old Town when the teams last played back in January. Can Foxcroft Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
