Recap: Tarpon Springs Spongers vs. Pinellas Park Patriots

The Tarpon Springs Spongers posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Pinellas Park as Tarpon Springs made off with a 68-47 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-15.

Tarpon Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Geramyah Porter led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 steals. Porter is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jomar Encarnacion, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds.

Tarpon Springs pushed their record up to 5-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Pinellas Park, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tarpon Springs will square off against Clearwater at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Pinellas Park won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northside Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Northside Christian is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
