Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Gators vs. McKeesport Tigers

The Gateway Gators will face off against the McKeesport Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Gateway turned things around against Penn-Trafford on Friday. They strolled past the Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 68-52.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when McKeesport faced off against Greater Latrobe on Friday. McKeesport fell just short of Greater Latrobe by a score of 66-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (59), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for McKeesport, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Gateway was able to grind out a solid win over McKeesport when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 62-55. Will Gateway repeat their success, or does McKeesport have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
