Baseball Recap: Lapwai Comes Up Short

Lapwai had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it ten. They came up short against the Clearwater Valley Rams, falling 18-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

As for Clearwater Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Clearwater Valley's part, Carson Schilling and Tiago Pickering did most of the damage at the plate: Schilling went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Pickering went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Schilling a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Fabbi, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lapwai wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-5 loss against Kendrick on the 18th. As for Clearwater Valley, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-5 defeat against Potlatch on the 19th.
