Soccer Game Preview: Cienega vs. Nogales

Cienega and Nogales are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cienega Bobcats will head out to challenge the Nogales Apaches at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cienega is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Catalina Foothills, who was ranked 17th at the time (Cienega was ranked 16th). Cienega came up short against Catalina Foothills on Monday, falling 4-1. The Bobcats' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Nogales, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They beat Maricopa by a goal, winning 2-1.

Cienega's loss dropped their record down to 7-3-1. As for Nogales, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Cienega came up short against Nogales when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 5-3. Can Cienega avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
