Paola has gone 8-2 against Louisburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats. Paola will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.
While Paola's win against Ottawa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers never let the Cyclones get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted against the Cyclones since May 8, 2018.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Friday. Louisburg put the hurt on Washington with a sharp 16-0 victory. Louisburg might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Bristol Barbour made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Barbour was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Max Amren was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Schultz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Louisburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Paola's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Louisburg, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.
Paola was able to grind out a solid victory over Louisburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 3-0. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
