Soccer Game Preview: Centennial vs. Stockdale

The Centennial Golden Hawks will take on the Stockdale Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Centennial is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Liberty on Tuesday. Centennial fell just short of Liberty by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Golden Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 704th, while the Patriots are ranked 119th).

Centennial's goal came courtesy of Calixto Gonzales, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Stockdale entered their contest against Ridgeview on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Stockdale fell just short of Ridgeview by a score of 3-2.

Stockdale's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-2-5. As for Centennial, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11-2 record this season.
