Basketball Recap: Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

Central waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 56-47 victory over the Calexico Bulldogs. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in January, they had to take a 47-46 loss.

Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joap Soto Chavez, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 17 points and six boards. That's the most points Soto Chavez has posted since back in December of 2024. Daimaggio Wyatt was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Calexico, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season.

Coming up, Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season. Calexico does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
