Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans vs. Udall Eagles

The Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Udall Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Cedar Vale/Dexter is headed out to face Udall after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Spartans blew past the Eagles 12-0 last Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Easton Cole made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Cole was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyle Honkomp, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Cooper Criss was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Cedar Vale/Dexter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Udall only posted a batting average of .125.

Everything went Cedar Vale/Dexter's way against Udall when the teams last played last Thursday, as Cedar Vale/Dexter made off with a 12-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
