Basketball Recap: Hollins Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hollins can now relate to. They fell just short of the Steinbrenner Warriors by a score of 54-51 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Royals have suffered since December 28, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Hollins lost, don't look at George Montgomery. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points along with six assists and five steals. Montgomery has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Avila, who posted eight points and three blocks.

Douglas Jordan had an outrageously good game for Steinbrenner as he went 8 for 12 en route to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Brady Griffin was another key player, putting up nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Hollins has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Steinbrenner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-18.

Hollins does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Steinbrenner, they will challenge East Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.1 points per game this season.
