Baseball Game Preview: St. Frances Academy Panthers vs. Beth Tfiloh Warriors

St. Frances Academy hasn't had much luck against Beth Tfiloh recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will face off against the Warriors at 3:00 p.m. St. Frances Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.

St. Frances Academy will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Key, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Obezags on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Obezags: they've now won three in a row.

St. Frances Academy got a great performance from Anthony Mayfield III as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, St. Frances Academy secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Julian Mercer, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Joseph Cooper was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Beth Tfiloh might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 7-5 to Park School, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

St. Frances Academy pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Beth Tfiloh, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

St. Frances Academy couldn't quite get it done against Beth Tfiloh in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 15-12. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
