Basketball Recap: Samuell Comes Up Short

Samuell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Adams Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 65-64 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Adams was led to victory by Darius McDonald and Chris Robinson. McDonald posted 16 points and five assists, while Robinson almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Velez, who put up six points.

Samuell's loss dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Adams, they moved to 5-15 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Samuell and Adams could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Samuell (ranked 1267th) will meet West Mesquite (ranked 89th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Adams (ranked 1306th) will meet Poteet (ranked 509th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
