Softball Game Preview: Brandon Eagles vs. Plant City Raiders

Brandon is 0-10 against Plant City since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Brandon Eagles will host the Plant City Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Brandon has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Brandon is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Blake, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, Plant City put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lennard a 6-0 shutout. Fans of the Raiders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

The result came thanks to Kyleigh Gibbs's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Samantha Raines and Peytan Benjamin did most of the damage at the plate: Raines went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Benjamin scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Wright, who scored a run and stole Two bases.

Plant City's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Brandon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Brandon suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Plant City in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Brandon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
