Softball Preview: Whiteoak Wildcats vs. Williamsburg Wildcats
Whiteoak will challenge Williamsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Things were looking good for Whiteoak after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Georgetown. The Wildcats have struggled against the G-Men recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Whiteoak got a massive performance out of Kylee Hamm, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Hamm has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Davidson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Even though they lost, Whiteoak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgetown only posted a batting average of .312.
Meanwhile, Williamsburg put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Clinton-Massie a 3-0 shutout.
Williamsburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Hensley, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Williamsburg's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Whiteoak, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
