Volleyball Recap: Aiden Nguyen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bear Creek over Chaparral

Bear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chaparral Wolverines. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Bear Creek took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 26-28, 22-25, 25-13, 17-15.

Bear Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aiden Nguyen, who had 18 digs and two assists. That's the most digs he has posted over his last eight contests.

Bear Creek now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Chaparral, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bear Creek will square off against rival Douglas County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chaparral is set to challenge their familiar foe Regis Jesuit at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
