Softball Recap: Cleveland's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cleveland can now relate to. They fell just short of the D.H. Conley Vikings by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Karsyn Hudacky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cleveland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Gaunt, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Izzy Sholar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cleveland's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for D.H. Conley, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Vikings beat Cleveland by a score of 4-2 later that day.
