Softball Game Preview: Spackenkill Spartans vs. Dover Dragons

The Spackenkill Spartans will challenge the Dover Dragons at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

On Tuesday, Spackenkill came up short against Wallkill and fell 4-1.

Cadie Hanaburgh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Adriana Alessandro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Dover's offense. They came up short against Highland on Wednesday, falling 6-0.

Dover's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Spackenkill, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Everything went Spackenkill's way against Dover when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Spackenkill made off with a 17-4 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
