Preview: Rim of the World Fighting Scots vs. Bloomington Bruins
The Rim of the World Fighting Scots will head out on the road to face off against the Bloomington Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Rim of the World focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Rim of the World pushed their score all the way to 63, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Kaiser. Rim of the World has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Rim of the World got a solid performance out of Ethan Thornburg, who scored 28 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thornburg has scored all season. Jackson Urquiza was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bloomington slipped by Fontana 53-52 on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Bloomington's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 925th, while Fontana is ranked 374th).
Rim of the World has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Bloomington, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Rim of the World strolled past Bloomington in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 53-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rim of the World since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
