Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. O'Dea Fighting Irish
After flying high against Campbell last Friday, Roosevelt came back down to earth. The Roosevelt Roughriders took a hard 65-50 fall against the O'Dea Fighting Irish on Tuesday. The Roughriders lost against the Fighting Irish in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-28 score last time.
Roosevelt's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pearson Dukes, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Washington, who earned seven points.
Roosevelt's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1.
Roosevelt will head out to challenge Seattle Prep at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Seattle Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Roosevelt likes a good challenge. As for O'Dea, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Nathan Hale at 7:30 p.m.
