Baseball Recap: Halifax Academy Takes a Loss

Halifax Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-7. They lost 15-0 to the Cedar Creek Christian Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 16-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2019.

As for Cedar Creek Christian, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Cedar Creek Christian's part, Trent Lampton and Bryce Rukab made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Lampton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rukab tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lampton also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cedar Creek Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. At the plate, Lampton got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Rukab went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Rukab has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Breon Sibley was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Cedar Creek Christian: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was David Revels, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Halifax Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 19-12 loss against Altamonte Christian on the 3rd. As for Cedar Creek Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Brevard HEAT on the 3rd.
