Football Recap: Lafayette Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Lafayette was feeling good fresh off their 55-7 takedown of Branford last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets and the Chipley Tigers were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Hornets suffered a 21-20 defeat. The Hornets gained 99 more yards on the day, but it was the Tigers that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Lafayette still got an impressive performance from Tywan K Williamson, who threw for 150 yards and three touchdowns. K Williamson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass.

Chipley can attribute much of their success to Caiden Coltrane, who rushed for 13 yards and one score, and also threw for 73 yards and one TD on only five passes.

The loss snapped Lafayette's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-2 record. As for Chipley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lafayette will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Williston at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. The Red Devils' defense has only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, so the Hornets' offense will have their work cut out for them. Chipley also won't see the field for a while: their next matchup is against Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Cowboys have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
