Basketball Recap: Leesburg Comes Up Short

If Leesburg was feeling good fresh off their 77-44 takedown of P.K. Yonge last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Leesburg Yellow Jackets fell 51-42 to the Lecanto Panthers on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Braylen Moore was his usual excellent self, going 11 for 21 on his way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals for Lecanto. The contest was Moore's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Moore, who posted four points and four steals.

Leesburg's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Lecanto, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Leesburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-49 victory against South Sumter on the 9th. As for Lecanto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 95-40 win against Citrus on the 10th.
