Recap: California School for the Deaf Eagles vs. Cornerstone Christian Cougars
The California School for the Deaf Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 85-42 defeat at the hands of Cornerstone Christian. California School for the Deaf was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-20.
Cornerstone Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AJ McCoy, who scored 14 points. The game was McCoy's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Wagner , who scored 12 points.
California School for the Deaf's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Cornerstone Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
California School for the Deaf and Model Secondary School for the Deaf will face off at 2:30 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cornerstone Christian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Making Waves Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 5th. Making Waves Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 857th, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked 357th).
