Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Sydnie Stepney and Zay Brown Lead Stratford to Victory

Stratford hadn't done well against Cane Bay recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Stratford Knights strolled past the Cane Bay Cobras with points to spare, taking the game 39-22. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 54-25 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Stratford was led to victory by Zay Brown and Sydnie Stepney. Brown posted 11 points and six steals, while Stepney scored seven points in addition to nine rebounds and six blocks. Those 11 points gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raniyah McKune, who had three points.

Stratford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Stratford's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Cane Bay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Stratford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-44 loss against Berkeley on the 20th. Cane Bay has also already played their next contest, a 46-29 defeat against Lucy Beckham on the 20th.
