Basketball Game Preview: Hoover Huskies vs. Nitro Wildcats

The Hoover Huskies will face off against the Nitro Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Hoover is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Nicholas County for the full four quarters, racking up an 88-51 win. The Huskies have beaten the Grizzlies the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Grizzlies has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Nitro had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Red Dragons with a sharp 75-55 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Nitro's win came from a few key players Hoover will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ty Stephens 6'1 165Lbs, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 24 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last five games he's played. Ashton Crouch was another key player, going 8-for-11 en route to 17 points.

Nitro pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points over those games. As for Hoover, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
