Softball Recap: Lake Norman Charter Takes a Loss

After flying high against Carson last Monday, Lake Norman Charter came back down to earth. The Knights lost 13-1 to the Central Cabarrus Vikings on Tuesday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Lake Norman Charter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Silvy Schild, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Schild is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Madison Taylor also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Lake Norman Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Central Cabarrus, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Lake Norman Charter and Central Cabarrus could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Knights will take on East Rowan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (232 vs. 8). Meanwhile, Central Cabarrus (ranked 62nd) will meet West Rowan (ranked 16th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
