Baseball Recap: Ocean Lakes Victorious

Ocean Lakes won the last time they faced Kempsville and things went their way on Thursday too. The Dolphins came out on top against the Chiefs by a score of 8-5.

Luke Ellison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tre Hamilton, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Ocean Lakes: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Ryan Gocio was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Ocean Lakes has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Kempsville, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
