Softball Recap: Labrae Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

LaBrae won the last time they faced Newton Falls and things went their way on Monday too. The Vikings put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Vikings have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley Rowe made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vada Allen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leah DeArmitt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

LaBrae was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in five consecutive contests.

LaBrae's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Newton Falls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5-1.

Coming up, Newton Falls will challenge East at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. LaBrae will be paying especially close attention to the Tigers' match: after the Tigers faces off against East, they'll take on LaBrae again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
