West Lincoln and Lincolnton are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Rebels will welcome the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincolnton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on West Lincoln, who comes in off a win.
On Friday, West Lincoln didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against East Gaston, but they still walked away with a 27-21 win. The Rebels' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
West Lincoln's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tj Stradford, who rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Stradford's longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Lincoln was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 379 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Meanwhile, Lincolnton unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak last Friday. They lost 45-21 to Stuart W. Cramer. The matchup marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Rashad Lynch and Clee Phillips. Phillips had a solid game and rushed for 56 yards and a pair of TDs. Meanwhile, Lynch did his best for the losing side, throwing for 184 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 107 yards.
Lincolnton's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for West Lincoln, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. West Lincoln has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 286.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lincolnton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 196 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
West Lincoln suffered a grim 42-21 defeat to Lincolnton in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Rebels, Treylen Bost (who rushed for 209 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.5 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
