Softball Recap: Palmview Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Mission Veterans Memorial last Tuesday, Palmview came back down to earth. The Lobos took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mission Eagles on Friday. The Lobos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

Abigail Cantu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Palmview's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Mission, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Palmview will challenge rival Roma at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mission is set to take on their familiar foe Rio Grande City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Eagles have won four straight at home, while the Rattlers won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
