Basketball Preview: Regis Jesuit Raiders vs. Highlands Ranch Falcons
The Regis Jesuit Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Highlands Ranch Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 25 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact Regis Jesuit proved on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 79-27 win over Heritage. Given Regis Jesuit's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Eagles are ranked 168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Regis Jesuit had a senior duo take command as Hana Belibi dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds and Coryn Watts scored 17 points along with four steals. Watts is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jane Rumpf, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Highlands Ranch entered their tilt with the Cyclones with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Highlands Ranch claimed a resounding 75-29 win over the Cyclones at home. With Highlands Ranch ahead 45-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Regis Jesuit pushed their record up to 13-6 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Highlands Ranch, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Regis Jesuit suffered a grim 65-43 defeat to the Falcons when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Regis Jesuit have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
