Basketball Recap: Roxana Takes a Loss

Roxana was the 51-39 winner over Freeburg when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Roxana Shells fell 49-39 to the Freeburg Midgets on Friday. The Shells have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Roxana still got an impressive performance from Sean Maberry, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Cohen Dugan, who put up seven points along with five assists and five boards.

Even though they lost, Roxana smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Matt Pluff had an outrageously good game for Freeburg as he went 8 of 9 en route to 20 points. Jase Brentlinger also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Roxana's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Freeburg, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 7-10.

Roxana has already played their next contest, a 64-56 victory against Father McGivney Catholic on the 20th. As for Freeburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-46 loss against Meridian on the 18th.
