Softball Game Preview: Apollo Hawks vs. Camelback Spartans

The Apollo Hawks will head out to challenge the Camelback Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Apollo has given up an average of 17.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Apollo fell victim to Desert Ridge and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 19-0 to the Jaguars. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Apollo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michelle Ngchar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Camelback might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Cesar Chavez who claimed the real prize. The Spartans came up short against the Champions, falling 21-9. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Champions recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Camelback's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Apollo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Everything went Apollo's way against Camelback when the teams last played back in February of 2022, as Apollo made off with a 10-2 victory. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
