Recap: Amelia County Raiders vs. Cumberland Dukes

The Amelia County Raiders waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Cumberland by a score of 80-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Amelia County had a senior duo take command as JAIDEN SQUIRE scored 27 points along with five steals and three blocks and JUSTIN PERRY scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that SQUIRE posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was TODD SPURLOCK JR, who scored 16 points.

Amelia County's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Cumberland, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amelia County will take on Randolph-Henry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Randolph-Henry has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Cumberland, they will be playing at home against Lunenburg Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lunenburg Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
