Football Recap: Mynderse Academy Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Mynderse Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by Newark/Marion and fell 38-8. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their loss to Newark/Marion from their previous meeting back in September of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newark/Marion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Graser, who threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing, and also punched in one score on the ground. Jykell Rodriguez was Graser's top target, picking up 74 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Newark/Marion has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Mynderse Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Seneca/Romulus. As for Newark/Marion, they will head out on the road to challenge Edison Tech at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
