Baseball Game Preview: Forest Hill Falcons vs. Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs

The Forest Hill Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Forest Hill will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Forest Hill needed a bit of extra time to put away Martin County. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Tigers. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Forest Hill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Blas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Blas a new career-high. Blake Griffin also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Dr. Joaquin Garcia was able to grind out a solid win over Coral Glades on Thursday, taking the game 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

JP Mcdonough looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Dr. Joaquin Garcia: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 2-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tristan Wells was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Eric Flores, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Forest Hill's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.33 hits in those games compared to only five in the others. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, their record now sits at 5-6.

Forest Hill might still be hurting after the 12-6 loss they got from Dr. Joaquin Garcia when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Forest Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
