Softball Game Preview: Martinsville Bluestreaks vs. Lawrenceville Indians

Martinsville hasn't had much luck against Lawrenceville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bluestreaks will look to defend their home field against the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Martinsville has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Martinsville's offense. They came up short against Mulberry Grove on Saturday, falling 12-0. The Bluestreaks' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Lawrenceville also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell just short of Robinson by a score of 2-0 on Monday.

Allison Evans spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lawrenceville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Erin Harris, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Lawrenceville's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-15. As for Martinsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Martinsville might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Lawrenceville when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Bluestreaks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
