The Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans will square off against the Faith Christian Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kerr-Vance Academy took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Lawrence Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Kerr-Vance Academy had just enough and edged out Lawrence Academy 8-7. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ayden Devine was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Kerr-Vance Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-3 otherwise. Devine was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and three runs. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MJ Wright, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Thomas Wilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Faith Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Saints a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Patriots have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Faith Christian also got a great performance from Noah Mayo as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Andrew Rine was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Tanner Trevathan, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Faith Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Faith Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kerr-Vance Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Faith Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Kerr-Vance Academy came up short against Faith Christian when the teams last played on Tuesday, falling 5-1. Will Kerr-Vance Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
