Basketball Recap: Mountain View Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kimberlee Brown and Jaycee Carlson

Mountain View suffered their closest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Provo Bulldogs by a score of 51-49. If the Bruins were looking for revenge after losing 49-36 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Mountain View had strong showings from Jaycee Carlson, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten boards, and 11 assists, and Kimberlee Brown, who went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Carlson a new career-high in assists. Sienna Bramble was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Mountain View was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Provo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sutton Villa led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Villa is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sage Yenchik, who posted 12 points and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for Provo, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Mountain View wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 41-39 win against Uintah on the 24th. Provo has also already played their next contest, a 66-37 victory against Timpanogos on the 24th.
