Baseball Recap: Steeleville Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

After losing to Sparta the last time they met, Steeleville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Warriors came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 12-7 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Trenton Ingles made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ingles was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Braden Middendorf was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Colin Vallett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Steeleville has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sparta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Steeleville will challenge Valmeyer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Warriors' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Pirates have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Sparta, they will host Red Bud at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Musketeers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
