Basketball Recap: STEAD Starts Season with Loss on the Road

STEAD had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 48-26 to the Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado Archers. The STINGERS were down 43-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Danica Candelaria continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado, going 10 for 23 on her way to 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Candelaria's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sariah Hrdlichka, who posted seven points.

The victory was the third in a row for Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

The future could be bright for both STEAD and Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. STEAD will try to hand Victory Prep Academy their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:45 p.m. on February 4th. Meanwhile, Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado will look to extend Non Varsity Opponent's three-game losing streak when the meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
