Basketball Game Preview: Terry Sanford Bulldogs vs. Harnett Central Trojans

Terry Sanford saw some tournament action on Monday. They took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Shore. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 13th in North Carolina, while the Vikings are ranked 63rd in New York).

Terry Sanford's defeat came about despite a quality game from Ameya Brown, who posted 13 points along with six assists and six boards. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. Zaniya Reddick was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points.

Even though they lost, Terry Sanford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 42 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Harnett Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on December 14th as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-19 defeat at the hands of Avery County. The Trojans were down 52-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Terry Sanford's record is now 8-2. As for Harnett Central, their record is now 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Terry Sanford against Harnett Central in their previous matchup back in February, as the squad secured a 72-28 win. In that game, Terry Sanford amassed a halftime lead of 43-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
