Football Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-5 to make it seven. They fell 29-22 to the Owen Warhorses. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Hayden Burpeau and Haiden Small. Burpeau rushed for 113 yards and one score on only seven carries while Small gained 117 total yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Small a new career-high in rushing yards (93).

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Madison will head out to challenge Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will be up against the Mountaineers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
