Baseball Recap: Homestead Has No Trouble Against Mccutcheon

Homestead was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against McCutcheon on Saturday. The Spartans blew past the Mavericks 9-0. The Spartans not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9th (when they won 10-0).

Ryne Michaeloff tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shane Bardwell was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Gray Stockwell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Homestead's record now sits at 20-6. As for McCutcheon, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Homestead will welcome Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for McCutcheon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crawfordsville at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
