Basketball Game Preview: Athenian Owls vs. College Prep Cougars

Athenian is 8-2 against College Prep since February of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Athenian Owls will get right back to it and host the College Prep Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Athenian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season.

On Monday, Athenian was able to grind out a solid victory over Emery, taking the game 53-43. The win continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Athenian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ali Algaal led the charge by putting up 19 points. Those 19 points gave Algaal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Teni Salako, who posted 15 points.

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Cougars on Friday. College Prep took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cornerstone Christian. College Prep has struggled against Cornerstone Christian recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Athenian, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
